Who We AreIn Hindi, 'Dhunki' means 'spellbound.' The name also contains the Hindi word 'Dhun,' which means 'tune' or 'melody.' This name represents our team's focus on South Asian music and culture. Our goal is to spread this culture throughout the community by the means of music, through a cappella arrangements in which Eastern and Western themes collide in song mashups.

Our HistoryDhunki A Cappella was founded in 2013 at UT Dallas in Richardson, Texas. In the first six years of existence, Dhunki has become a participant and award-winner in various South Asian A Cappella competitions across the nation, including back-to back first places at Anahat in Berkeley, California! Dhunki has also founded Awaazein, the first national South Asian A Cappella competition in the Southern United States.
We hope to accomplish even more as we head into the 2018-19 year, including our new E-board members! |
